13.3 Sitar - raga of the morning

In the holy city of Varanasi, Shyam plays a raga of the morning. Each raga represents a certain progression of notes said to depict a mood  - often associated with the time of the day. The sitar is one of the world’s most sophisticated instruments and the wealth of classical Indian music is handed down in a long line from masters to apprentices.
